DXG Media – Our commitment to Sustainable Print
At DXG Media, we believe that high-quality print shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet. As a responsible commercial printer, we recognise the importance of reducing our environmental impact — not as a trend, but as a long-term commitment to sustainability in everything we do.
We have made meaningful investments in our equipment, processes, and materials to ensure that we’re minimising waste, conserving resources, and helping our clients reduce their carbon footprint too.
Our Commitments
FSC® Certified We use responsibly sourced paper from sustainable forests, ensuring traceability and accountability across all our print jobs. We have also established and follow a rigorous chain of custody system, enabling the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) logos to be included in the print, if desired.
Digital Printing This plate-less printing method reduces ink waste significantly over traditional plate-printing. It is also very versatile, so it’s perfect for single copies but also capable of larger-scale print jobs.
Vegetable-Based Inks We use low-VOC, renewable vegetable-based inks as a cleaner, safer alternative to traditional petroleum-based options.
Energy Consumption The energy consumed within a print manufacturing facility is significant, as well as the transport required to deliver to customers but by investing in the latest technology, integrating smart and efficient workflows and establishing more localized supply chains, our energy consumption is reduced for a smaller carbon footprint.
Water Reduction We reduce the amount of water used in production processes by opting to print digitally wherever possible. For litho printing, our Chem-free CTP system significantly lowers water and power consumption when compared to conventional CTP systems, and our state-of-the-art litho press uses automated programs to make it very efficient; the Wash Assistant automatically selects the optimum wash up program for the inking unit, blanket and impression cylinders based on the degree of soiling, resulting in extremely short washing times.
Electric Vehicles Research has shown that electric cars are better for the environment; emitting fewer greenhouse gases and air pollutants than petrol or diesel cars. This takes into account their production as well as the electricity required to keep them running. In 2022 we began to switch our fleet one at a time, from petrol to electric for a more sustainable future.
Recycling & Waste Management Throughout our facilities, we operate comprehensive recycling systems for paper, plastics, plates, and chemicals to reduce landfill and energy use.
Eco Clean Filtration System Our investment in this advanced filtration system allows us to recycle 90% of our press cleaning agent, reducing chemical waste and water usage.
